Braided Carbon Sleeve

Braided carbon sleeve is a triaxle braid of precisely oriented fibers of maximum stiffness, torsional stability, and compressive strength . It can be used to manufacture tapered tail booms, tubes, and tuned pipes. The sleeves are capable of expanding and contracting approximately 3/8" in diameter allowing a variety of tapers to be obtained.

Construction Hint:

To manufacture a tail boom, we recommend the braid be slipped over a tool (it can be aluminum, foam, or a cardboard tube) and wetted out with EZ-LAM epoxy. The assembly is tightly wrapped with 2" wide peel ply and then allowed to cure. The foam tool can either be dissolved with gasoline or left in the assembly.
